Our business was founded by Masi, our Director and Operations Manager, who migrated to Australia in 2005. Like many migrant women, Masi faced significant barriers when trying to find stable employment language challenges, lack of local experience, age bias, and limited flexible work options.
Determined to support herself and her family, she started working as a sole trader hairdresser, offering mobile services to elderly clients who could no longer visit traditional salons.
It was through this work that Masi found her true calling.
She discovered that hairdressing for seniors was not just about appearance it was about restoring dignity, creating human connection, and bringing moments of joy and normality to people in aged-care and palliative settings.
For many elderly clients, a haircut was one of the few personal experiences they still looked forward to. For Masi, it became a purpose.
What started as a small, solo operation quickly grew through word of mouth. Facilities saw the difference in the care provided. Residents felt heard, valued and respected. Families noticed the positive impact on their loved ones’ wellbeing.
To build a business grounded in care, dignity and meaningful work.
Today, Masi Hairdressing Services operates across more than 30 aged-care and palliative-care locations throughout Melbourne, supporting almost 6000 elderly clients.
At the same time, we have created flexible, dignified employment opportunities for women who face barriers to traditional work particularly mature-aged women, carers, and women from migrant and culturally diverse backgrounds.
Our team is built on shared values. Many of our stylists understand first-hand what it means to rebuild confidence, return to work after hardship, or balance employment with caring responsibilities.
We support our team with paid training, mentoring, flexible rostering and a culture of respect and compassion.
It is about human connection, dignity, trust and care.
Every service we deliver supports two communities at once empowering women through meaningful employment, while enhancing the wellbeing and social connection of seniors who deserve to feel valued and cared for.
Masi Hairdressing exists because we believe everyone deserves to be seen, supported and respected no matter their age, background or life circumstances.
